Dr Walker (Te Whakatōhea, Ngāti Porou) is a practising nephrologist in Palmerston North, New Zealand. He is Chair of Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa, the Medical Council of New Zealand and also serves on the Board of Te Whatu Ora – the Crown Enterprise which manages and delivers most of the publicly funded healthcare in New Zealand. He also serves on the Board of Te ORA – the Māori Doctor’s Association, and is passionate about health equity and quality in health care. |
